I am, with another lady from Batcombe, organising the screening of a documentary film which looks at the history of the NHS from its inception in 1948 to the present and examines the changes that have taken hold and the dangers of the future if there is a post Brexit deal with the USA. The film is political but not specific to any one party.
There will be a panel discussion afterwards chaired by Henry Hobhouse. The panel will consist of Adam Boyden PPC Somerton & Frome, Mick Clark PPC Yeovil and Rev David Osborne. We are hoping to increase the panel with other experts and commentators.
The film is directed by the Emmy-award winning director Susan Steinberg and is narrated by Alison Steadman. Film Director Ken Loach has endorsed it with these words: “Films, like words, can become weapons. This film is a weapon in our struggle to save the NHS.
There should be details of the film in every hospital reception, every GP’s waiting room, every community centre” The film will be screened all over Britain in the week of 14 to 18th October.
